June 04, 2025Can you believe I read this out loud in front of my 15-people class? Back then I thought it was a good piece. Ugh I don't know, I still think this was a good final essay.
a collection of short stories, poetry, and essays.
honestly I'm just not very good at poetry, and I don't even like reading poetry, so maybe don't read those. ugh I also hate how half of these pieces are straight up sappy and the other half are cringey pretentious nonsense; i swear that's not me irl

So I took a writing class in spring before I graduated, and I genuinely thought I'd have so much good writing I can post. Six months later I'm rereading everything I wrote and they're all genuinely awful ugh.
A short love story based on a dream I had.
Partly inspired by Orb. On the Movements of the Earth and Omniscient Reader. Hopefully it makes sense.
Write the study abroad essay
I wrote something about taking the bus to LAX for spring break! Although Close Your Eyes and Hope It Comes might be a better title for taking the bus in LA in general.
As a kid, I really wanted to be an author. I tried to write these spooky stories that really just plagiarized the Goosebumps series. Cringe. Anyway, now writing has sort of become a way to say things that I'm too embarrassed to say irl and to show I'm not as boring as I seem. But it's also gotten harder and harder for me to write anything since last year, hence this sort of reflection piece. Hopefully I'll write more in the future
This is a short story that I first wrote in 2019, but back then I couldn't come up with an ending I was happy with, and it ended up feeling like a story I wrote solely for the imagery. I've finally gotten around to changing the ending, and it feels a lot better now. The astronomer part is new and inspired by a manga series called 地。關於地球的運動 (Orb. On the Movements of the Earth)
Happy New Year! I'm finally back after a writing slump, yay! I been trying to finish this thing for ages, but for some reason the ideas just would not come together. I'm hoping the formatting won't get messed up, but who am I kidding. Also, a random life update, I'm finally taking the dreaded CS 35L!
Obviously not my best work, or even a good piece. But I did try, so I'll post it here. I'd do anything to procrastinate studying for 10H, everything about that class stresses me out so much.
New work! I was browsing through Professor Deuel's Substack, and at the bottom of one of his posts he asked his former students how they'd respond who are you not now. My response last year was hands-down horrible. I hope this year's response is a more pleasant read
Yeah, I know, the title is sorta cringe. Written the night before flying home for summer, the first half by Janss Steps and the second half in Night Powell. It got too cold :(
An attempted parady of an unhealthy relationship, inspired by all the pain my OPS capstone project brought me. Dedicated to my project leads and all nice IEEE people.
These covid mints are like, well, actual candy/mints.
My friend introduced me to what's called a surrealism poem. Apparently you randomly generate keywords and try to come up with a poem using some of those keywords. Well I tried, and with the words that popped up, it ended up being a really weird poem/story.
My lovely friend who does creative writing introduced me to walk poems. And so I decided to write one. Disclaimer: I am not good at walking, or poetry for that matter.
Yet another mini-essay, this time answering the prompt Tell Us a Good Story. It's inspired by my friend's real encounter with a wolf and is a nostalgic recount of the good ol Pearson days
Another essay written for Professor Nathan Dueuel's EngComp3 class. I get really anxious when I go out with a huge group of people I don't feel comfortable with, and I decided to write something about the experience. They're not bad people, it's just.
A mini-essay written for Professor Nathan Dueul's Fall 22 EngComp 3 class, where I briefly ponder why I'm alive.
Also written during creativity week. The idea came to me while I was showering, and I stayed up till 4 am in front of the fireplace in Calgary writing. Jordan liked my piece, and I still like how I went out of my comfort zone to dabble with something I quite enjoy reading — dark fairy tale retellings.
Written during creativity week in senior year. I had this super cute porcupine sticker whose color was starting to fade and a coffee addiction.
This is also a poem I wrote during creativity week back in senior year. I'm sure we've all had the frustrating experience where you really need to finish some assignment but one of the keys on your keyboards is stubbornly stuck
Cute little story that brings back fond memories of eating snow from the ground. Which was probably a bad idea.
I'm not super sure what I had in mind when I wrote this, but this is a cute little poem about the hotel's bathroom written in the middle of the pandemic when I was in a hotel in Canada, waiting to go back to school
